Enzo Bianchi Gran Corte 2017
This blend offers an attractive, seductive and intense color, deep purple with violet notes. Aromas of red fruits, ripe black fruits, floral and spicy notes, and fresh herbs merge elegantly with chocolate and vanilla. It is a very complex wine with magnificent structure, silky tannins and highly-balanced acidity. This wine has excellent potential for aging.
The grapes come from a 30-year old vineyard in Finca Asti, situated in Las Paredes in San Rafael, Mendoza, 2,461 feet above sea level. This historic vineyard has always produced exceptional Malbecs and Cabernet Sauvignons that Enzo Bianchi, who was Chief Winemaker for 50 years, used as the basis for this great wine. The soil is alluvial with a sandy-silt texture. This organic-poor soil, combined with proper irrigation management, allows for perfect plant balance. Layers of medium-sized rocks are covered by light calcareous layers that contribute the wine’s mineral notes. The grapes for Enzo Bianchi Gran Corte 2017 were hand-harvested. The wine went through classical fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and cold maceration for 48 hours, with frequent pump-over. The wine spent 14 months in 100% French oak barrels. After stabilization, filtering and bottling, the final wine was bottled-aged an additional 12 months.
Serve at room temperature as a perfect accompaniment to red meats.
