Dakota Shy
Dakota Shy is a Napa Valley winery dedicated to crafting world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from some of the region’s most sought-after vineyard sites. Founded in 2012 by partners with deep roots in Napa Valley winemaking, Dakota Shy began with a focused ambition: to produce Cabernet Sauvignon that could stand among the world’s finest.
Led by winemaker Tom Garrett and General Manager Ryan Clark, Dakota Shy has spent more than a decade building a reputation for precision, consistency, and excellence. The winery has earned widespread critical acclaim, including two placements in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines, with strong scores across multiple vintages.
Dakota Shy works with 16 exceptional vineyard sites across Napa Valley, sourcing from acclaimed appellations including Atlas Peak, Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, Pritchard Hill, Oak Knoll, Stags Leap District, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Calistoga. Each site contributes its own distinct character, allowing the winery to create Cabernet Sauvignons with depth, structure, complexity, and a strong sense of place.
The result is a collection of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons that balance power and elegance, expressing both the character of the vineyard and the precision of the winemaking.
