Derek Irwin – Winemaker
With over 30 years of experience, UC Davis graduate Derek Irwin brings a globally inspired, food-friendly style to Geyser Peak wines. His winemaking journey began in Napa Valley at Cosentino and Bouchaine, followed by formative work in Italy and Argentina. Mentored by famed Italian enologist Alberto Antonini, Derek developed a passion for vineyard-driven wines with balance and character. A former head winemaker and vineyard manager at Viansa in Sonoma, he is also founder of Irwin Family Vineyards, specializing in Spanish-inspired varietals. Today, he leads winemaking for Geyser Peak with a focus on expressive, approachable wines that reflect California’s diverse terroir.
