Striking medium-dark color leads to aromas of blackberries, ripe strawberries, and dry rose petals, with hints of spice and vanilla, On the palate, there is a silky, creamy mouthfeel that nicely counters the medium/big structure and enjoyable grip of this wine, with nice bright acidity and a long, enjoyable finish. A classic Alexander Valley Cabernet that can compete with any in California. It shows off restrained tannins that allow the wine to be enjoyed now, but are enough to allow this wine to age gracefully for many years.

Tasting Panel (92 Points):

“Richly textured, with plush tannins. Dark red and blue berries feel plump on the palate. The sleek liquid is enhanced by mocha and saddle leather. Cedar and sweet tobacco weave a well-tailored finish.”

James Suckling (90 Points):

"Some roasted red chili pepper and olives to the bright cassis and red plum characters on the nose with a hint of dark chocolate, juicy and a tad sweet-and-sour with a medium body, showing some round tannins and berries. Well-balanced and drinkable even though there is not a lot of depth on the center-palate. Open to enjoy now."

Geyser Peak Winery has a long and storied history. Founded in 1880, it became the 29th bonded winery in California, and was named for the tremendous view of Geyser Peak Mountain directly outside the winery’s window.

The brand has seen a storied past of over 140 years, founded by a local family, changing hands multiple times including management by corporate interests. Today, Geyser Peak has proudly returned to its roots as a family-owned-and-operated business, sourcing fruit from famed winegrowing regions of California. The essence of California terroir can be tasted throughout the range of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The motto, “Reach for the Peak,” was coined to refer to seeking the utmost quality in wine. It’s inarguable that it has.

Derek Irwin is the new winemaker for Geyser Peak. He started his wine career in 1994 after graduating from UC Davis and has a deep knowledge and understanding of the California wine industry having consulted for wineries in various California wine regions.
