Ruby red in color with slight orange hues, this Nebbiolo exhibits violets and a hint of spice aromas that support a velvety finish.

Wine Enthusiast (95 Points & Cellar Selection):
“Heady aromas of new leather, wild berry and iris mingle with orange zest and dark spice on this compelling red. The full-bodied, elegant palate shows class and intensity, delivering juicy Morello cherry, strawberry compote and the same orange slice and star anise notes from the nose accompanied by taut, fine-grained tannins. It's got great energy and nervous, youthful tension that will allow this to age for years. Drink 2027–2039.”

Decanter (93 Points):
"…Open-knit, filigreed strawberry and watermelon are underlined by layers of mineral complexity. The palate packs a punch for its reductive yet youthful fruit character, chiseled tannins and firm acidity woven with a great concentration of fruit. Not ready to drink now but will age well."

This notable winery came to be by three brothers in 1977, who established Bel Colle in Verduno, on the northwest edge of the Barolo DOCG. It was purchased in 2015 by Luca Bosio, an innovative young winemaker in Piedmont representing the third generation of his winemaking family. Luca seized the opportunity to work with such a prestigious property, which is known for producing single vineyard Barolo and Barbersco wines noted for their delicate, elegant, spicy and floral character.

Examples of outstanding single vineyard wines include the Barolo Monvigliero DOCG, which is grown in one of the best areas of Verduno with an average vine age of 50-years-old, producing a harmonious and complex wine. The Barbaresco Pajorè comes from a highly recognized 2.5 acre, south-facing single vineyard in the village of Barbaresco, creating a delicate, elegant wine.

It is widely known that Italy is home to the most indigenous varieties of grapes in the world. Bel Colle Winery honors that heritage and includes a separate, small vineyard planted to Pelaverga, a variety that is nearly extinct. The winery does indeed make a highly coveted wine from it, but in miniscule quantities.
