The Legacy of Georges Duboeuf

Born into a family of vineyard owners in Mâcon, Burgundy, Georges Duboeuf revolutionized Beaujolais winemaking. After taking over the family business, he began bottling estate wines instead of selling to négociants. He championed small growers, introducing a mobile bottling truck to help them bring single-estate wines to market—a major shift from regional blends.

Duboeuf personally delivered wines by bicycle, eventually earning a place on Lyon’s top restaurant lists, including those of legendary chef Paul Bocuse. In 1982, he introduced Beaujolais Nouveau to the U.S., igniting what would become the world’s largest wine celebration.

Georges’ son Franck now runs the business, keeping Georges' legacy front and center, with wines that express the terroir with bold character and deep flavor. Franck's son, Aurélien, has a winemaking role and his nephew, Adrien, is on the business side.
